Pickup is between 3:00 and 3:30 PM. You reach the dune belt around 4:15, deflate tyres, then run thirty to forty minutes of dune bashing before pulling onto a high ridge for the sunset stop, which in winter lands close to 5:40 PM. Camp arrival is roughly 6:00 PM, with camel rides, sandboarding, henna, falconry photographs and shisha before dinner service opens around 7:00. The stage rotates tanoura, belly dance and fire shows through the meal, and the convoy leaves for Dubai around 8:45, putting you back at your hotel by about 9:45 PM.

Who should and should not do the evening safari

It suits almost everyone: children from three upwards ride with parents, and we can request a gentler dune bashing line for anyone who asks. Pregnant guests, and anyone with back, neck, heart or spinal conditions, should skip the dune bashing portion; we can drive you to camp on the graded track instead so you still get the sunset, the camp and the dinner. Motion-sickness-prone guests do better in the front row and should eat lightly before pickup.

What to bring, and stargazing after dinner

Bring a light jacket for winter evenings, because the desert can drop ten degrees within an hour of sunset. Closed shoes for the dune bashing, sandals for the camp, and a power bank if you plan to film. Camp lighting is kept low deliberately, so once the shows end you can walk fifty metres past the perimeter and see the Milky Way on a moonless night. Ask your driver to point out Orion and Jupiter on the ridge before you leave; it is the part guests remember longest.

November to March is the peak season for evening desert safaris — cooler temperatures make dune bashing Dubai trips more enjoyable and skies are typically clear for sunset. We recommend booking 3–5 days in advance during winter holidays.
